We’re more than halfway through the year, and it feels like there’s simply no hope for 2020 to come in clutch. Most of us have pretty much accepted this fact, which means we’ll have to find something new to keep us from falling into the deep depths of despair. Not to worry – your favorite Korean celebs have got you covered with some of their very own YouTube channels. Wanna binge?
SOLARSIDO – Solar of Mamamoo
Mamamoo is a group that’s constantly breaking stereotypes and taking on new challenges in their ever-rising musical career. The leader, Solar, brings that energy into her own YouTube channel! The channel’s name, Solarsido, is a play on the musical scale of Do-Re-Mi, while being a mashup of “Solar” and “Sido” (which means “attempt” in Korean).
Her channel is a fun space where she tries out new things while constantly learning from her experiences. From learning English to her iconic pole dance routines to even skydiving, she is sure to bias-wreck any Moomoo tuned in, and pull in a slew of new Moomoos, too! There seems to be absolutely nothing the Mamamoo ladies can’t do.
PRODUSORN – Sorn of CLC
Sorn of CLC gives off trendy vlogger vibes that really makes her stand out in the K-pop world. Her channel, Produsorn, was launched in 2019 and has been garnering new fans steadily. Sitting pretty at over half a million subscribers already, her channel is a log of her life in CLC and some their best moments that she cherishes; as well as vlogs of casual outings with friends. You should definitely check out her Thai food lunch date video – featuring Lisa of BLACKPINK and labelmate Minnie of (G)I-DLE!
eaJ – Jae of DAY6
Jae is one of the most iconic guys in the K-pop scene; and for good reason – he’s super laid-back and chill, not to mention absolutely hilarious! His vlog series, “A Jae in the Life of Day,” is basically Jae going wild and being a relatable twenty-something (minus the fame, perhaps). He’s always out adventuring no matter which country he’s in, and terrorizing the locals with his shenanigans. He’s also gotten other idols to feature in his videos, like Khun of 2PM and Woosung of The Rose!
He makes music on the side as well using his alias eaJ. If you like DAY6’s music (and even if you don’t), his songs like “Otherside” and “Pacman” are certainly worth checking out. We’re waiting for that mixtape, Jae!
Record PARK’s – Park Seo-Joon
Park Seo-joon is one of the most talented actors in the game. His acting and charisma are top-notch; and huge reasons why Itaewon Class and What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim appear on any avid drama-watcher’s list! His channel, Record PARK’s, is the first YouTube channel by a Korean actor to reach one million followers. It’s easy to see why: he has all kinds of content to watch, from mukbangs to interviews and reaction commentaries on his own work.
Despite being one of the biggest actors out there, his channel brings home how humble and hardworking he is; and watching him laugh alongside his staff like good friends will make you want to join his clique!
지창욱.Jichangwook – Ji Chang-Wook
Want to know what goes on behind the curtains of your favourite K-dramas? Some heart-warming and funny moments that can make you fall in love all over again? Ji Chang-wook enjoys sharing behind-the-scenes moments and bloopers of his dramas, his most recent one being Backstreet Rookie. He’s sure to make you laugh as he breaks down his actor’s persona to reveal his fun, human self. His charm really jumps out on his channel; and the videos are worth the binge even if you aren’t watching his movies or shows. (But seriously, if you haven’t watched Melting Me Softly, what are you even doing?)
Have you checked out any of the YouTube channels from these bright Korean stars? Which one is your favorite?
